I am currently a practicing neonatologist working 24 hour shifts at a time. I had begun to experience increasing difficulty in wearing my contacts for long periods of time and did not see as well performing procedures with my glasses. I contacted Dr. Rahmani and was given a thorough examination in his office. To patients of Dr. Rahmani: I would like to tell you about my experience with refractive surgery (specifically LASIK). First of all, it took Dr. Rahmani about a year to convince me to have the surgery. This was due to my hesitance because my eyes were so bad. In fact, I was the highest power that the laser center had done at that time. I had 87 and 83 seconds of laser (right and left). (Most people have about 20 seconds). My apprehension at first was that I was so visually impaired without my contacts that I did not want any further deterioration. On the other hand, I couldn't imagine still putting contacts in when I was 80! My glasses were too thick to wear comfortably. What changed my mind was that I observed the procedure being performed in San Diego at a conference. Once I saw how simple the procedure was and that it only took minutes, I was convinced. I mean, these surgeons complete cataract surgeries and corneal transplants all day long! Those surgeries are MUCH more involved than what I was observing. I was convinced. I called Dr. Rahmani from San Diego and told him to schedule me. The procedure was completely painless for me (only 4 numbing drops!). I had both eyes done at the same time, which is what I would recommend for anyone. The worst part of the procedure was that I had to wear my glasses for a week before the operation. I could tell a difference immediately, not that I could see, but I knew something was better. My big deal was that I could see the house across the street and that there were windows with shutters! Prior to the surgery, I may have been able to see the house, but no outline. The next morning I woke up 20/20. I can only encourage you in this procedure, I wish I would have done it sooner! I still think I am sleeping in my contacts, because you are not supposed to be able to wake up and be able to see. Please feel free to contact me with any questions! ~ Dawnel Bergen

I am a firefighter/paramedic for the City of Toledo, Fire Division.  I had Lasik surgery done in August of this year.  I was so happy with the results. As a firefighter and paramedic, you are called to duty at anytime in a 24 hour period.  It is so nice t not have to worry about not wearing your glasses into a fire, or getting up in the middle of the night and not worrying about your contacts being all dried out. Just a note to tell you I see wonderful. Just as good as before, if not better than my glasses or contact lenses. Plus I feel my peripheral vision has improved.

As an Optometrist, I am acutely aware of my vision and the options available to correct my vision. The possibility of a procedure to relieve me of my glasses and contact lenses has intrigued me for some time. RK and PRK have been highly touted, but I never felt comfortable with either procedure, especially RK. With LASIK I now have a procedure I feel confident with. Investigating I found that LASIK is constantly being refined and improved, plus you wan t a surgeon who has performed many procedures. I selected you, Dr. Rahmani, to perform my surgery because of your vast experience and use of the latest technology.

The procedure itself was easy. I was surprised how little time I spent in the operating room. I believe that the actual procedure took two to three minutes each eye, with absolutely no pain or discomfort. I went to work the very next day. My vision fluctuated from 20/20 to 20/30 for the first week. Now six weeks later, my vision is a very stable 20/20. I do not miss my glasses at all, but out of habit, I will occasionally reach for them in the morning. I guess after thirty-one years, this is a hard habit to break. What I appreciate most about the surgery are the things most people take for granted. Watching my daughter's soccer game in the rain with out having to constantly wipe my lenses. Not waking up with a bet frame from falling asleep watching television. I am really looking forward to playing sports, swimming, and water-skiing without the uncomfortable blur of myopia.

Words cannot express how wonderful Dr. Rahmani is.  He is a very skilled surgeon who goes out of his way to make people happy and make sure that you are comfortable.  He has given me 20/15 vision after LASIK surgery in November 1999.  I had wore contacts and glasses for over ten years.  I slept in my contacts, which is a very terrible thing, for a couple years.  I was risking getting ulcers and infection in my eyes.  No matter what anybody said I would still sleep in them.  Finally I looked into the LASIK surgery procedure.

I was skeptical at first but the more I put it off the more I was risking getting infections.  Dr. Rahmani and his staff assured me that everything would be all right and it was.

I just wanted you know how thrilled I continue to be with my decision to have LASIK done. You performed LASIK in September on my eyes, and I think it was the best investment I have ever made. It's wonderful to be able to walk inside from the cold without having my glasses fog up, and to be able to defrost my car windshield without having my eyes feel like my contacts have been permanently glued to my eyeballs. This is great; its like waking up wearing your glasses/contacts. I can't believe how good my vision was so soon after the procedure.

It's truly an amazing procedure and I have highly recommended it to many of my friends/acquaintances. Six will have completed their surgery by December 27,2000. I was considering having surgery done in my area (Kalamazoo-Grand Rapids) and I was surprised at the huge price difference. Their prices have since lowered to $1700.00 to $1800.00 PER eye. It was definitely worth the drive to Detroit to have the procedure performed by you. I will continue to refer people who are interested in LASIK your way. Have you ever thought about getting your eyes corrected? When it comes to making this decision, there are basically two questions to be answered: 1) Should I have the surgery done? 2) Who should I go to for the procedure? Personally, I think I have the answer to both of these questions.

First of all, my name is Michael Vandergrift, D.O. I am a OB/GYN resident here in the metro Detroit area. I have worn glasses since I was a teenager. Currently, I work 85-90 hours per week, and contacts were very irritating for my eyes. It became increasingly more urgent to look more closely at LASIK surgery. After talking to colleagues, I decided to have the procedure done. My second dilemma now was WHOM should I trust to do this surgery on my eyes. I started investigating local and Canadian surgeons, and I luckily found Dr. Rahmani. I have a very busy schedule with limited time. Dr. Rahmani went out of his way to accommodate my needs and my schedule. The painless procedure took very little time. The next day I could see perfectly. My schedule was extremely hectic the next day, including 3 surgeries. I had perfect vision without any pain or difficulties. I now get up every morning and have better than 20/20 vision, and I don't worry about glasses or contacts. I could have never imagined this could be possible. Dr. Rahmani is extremely professional, personable, and available for his patients. When I called him with questions and concerns, he quickly returned my call and was thorough with his answers. I am a practicing family physician. I have been wearing glasses since I was in second grade. I have used hard contacts, soft contacts and disposable contacts. My success with contacts over the years had diminished. I wanted freedom from glasses.
